Fairs which were attended by EZ Electric Power Steering in 2010
InterClassics & TopMobiel, Maastricht (NL), January 15-17
This year InterClassics' theme was 100 years Alfa Romeo. The enthusiast was not disappointed: many seldom seen Alfas were displayed with an Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale as the highlight for most visitors. EZ Electric Power Steering brought an Alfa GTC and Touring 2000, both of course fitted with electric power steering. The Mercedes Ponton and Ferrari 512TR on our stand also generated a lot of interest. We met a lot of pleased existing customers but also many new contacts that had never heard of our product. InterClassics also turned out to be a good show in terms of orders placed!
Retromobile, Paris, January 22-31
Retromobile in Paris is different to all other European classic car exhibitions. Ten days of automobile souvenirs, art, boats, motorcycles and of course many French exotics, such as a two door Citroën DS rallye car and a SM with a Maserati V8. Retromobile was also the premiere of the new Mercedes SLS AMG, standing brotherly next to its forebears, the 300SL Gullwing and the 300 SLR. Paris is the only classic car show that lasts longer than a week, but this didn't stop large numbers of visitors coming every day, and many of them were interested in our EZ Electric Power Steering. Retromobile also marked the introduction of our 10 ft steering wheel hanging from the ceiling above our stand to make it easier for visitors to find us.
Retro Classics, Stuttgart, March 11-13
Even though there was a terrible snowstorm on Thursday, plenty of classic car enthusiasts visited Stuttgart. EZ Electric Power Steering exhibited in Hall 1. So far away from home, yet we were flanked by two Dutch classic car dealers, The Gallery and Potomac Motors! EZ Power Steering had brought a Porsche 911 and Mercedes 300S Cabriolet with electric power steering to Stuttgart, which happens to be the homebase of these two wonderful car brands. Many visitors and attending Mercedes specialists (Kienle, Mechatronic and HK Engineering) were very impressed. Horch Classic, our other neighbour at the exhibition, even enquired into the possibility of fitting power steering to a Horch 853. We can recommend visiting this exhibition to all!
Techno Classica, Essen (D), April 14
This year the Techno Classica proved more than a handful!
We brought a very exclusive Horch 853 Cabriolet and a Bentley MKVI Cabriolet to Essen, along with a Porsche 911 Targa and a Jaguar XK 140 DHC. As usual we received visitors from various countries and our agents from France and Italy were also on our stand to receive French and Italian speaking visitors.
Klassikwelt Bodensee, Friedrichshafen (D), June 3-6
Klassikwelt Bodensee is probably the most fun classic car event of the year. The special combination of classic planes, boats and cars along with all the outdoor activities is unique. Unfortunately for all exhibitors the weather this time was so beautiful that the attendance of the indoor exhibition, where all specialists were, was disappointing compared to last year... This was a shame, but nevertheless it gave all the exhibitors time to visit each other which also opened up business oportunities. The beautiful Aston Martin DB2/4 Convertible and Alvis Graber on our stand nevertheless attracted a lot of attention.
Concours d'élégance Het Loo, Apeldoorn (NL), September 6
Luckily the weather at this year's concours d'élégance was wonderful. There were a lot of of classic car enthusiasts that attended and they were rewarded with a beautiful selection of spectacular cars. The highlight of the event for many was "Brutus", a 47 litre V12 BMW engine in an American La France chassis (and we thought Bob Peterson's 27 Litre Bentley was bizarre!). Once the car was started there was a beautiful sound complete with flames and enormous bangs. We also saw an original American La France that was fitted with an EZ Electric Power Steering system earlier this year. This car would take part in the Carrera Copacabana rally in South America the same year.
Troyes 48 Hours (F), September 10-12
Troyes is a beautiful city and the amount of participants in the 48 hours of Troyes was very high this year. Unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate... In spite of the rain we enjoyed the beautiful architecture and wonderful classic cars such as Facel Vega, Renault Alpine and Delahaye.
Auto e Moto d'Epoca, Padua (I), October 21-24
Padua must be one of the most fun classic car shows on the calendar. Every Italian classic car enthusiast should visit this show at least once. One hall is completely filled with spare parts, unfortunately good deals are harder to find each year... EZ Electric Power Steering had a Fiat 124 Spider, an original Ferrari 308 Rally, an Alvis Graber DHC and a truly beautiful Ferrari 275GTB, owned by Mr. Spinetti, well known to all in the Ferrari scene in Italy, on our stand. After the exhibition in Padua our sales of Ferrari and Maserati power steering sets doubled!
Auto Moto Italia, Houten (NL), October 30-31
One week after Padua, the Dutch had their own Italian classic car exhibition in Houten. The organisation once again succeeded in bringing together a nice mix of classic and modern Italian cars. EZ Electric Power Steering had a wonderful collection of cars fitted with our electric power steering on display. We had an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring, Maserati 3500GT Touring and a Lancia Flaminia Touring on our stand. Besides the always very professional Lamborghini club there was also a rare 355 art display to be seen and our "neighbour" a week before in Padua, Alfa specialist Steutel, was also one of the exhibitors!
Epoqu'Auto International, Lyon, November 5-7
The exhibition in Lyon is interesting for enthusiasts of French classic cars. The show has numerous spare parts vendors who unfortunately are scattered among the other exhibitors, not in a separate hall like in Essen or Padua. For some that is exactly the charm of a French exhibition, with Delahayes and Bugattis found between the parts...
Auto Retro, Barcelona, December 4-8
This was the first time that EZ Electric Power Steering attended Auto Retro in Barcelona. Just before the exhibition we signed a contract with Auto-Storica for representing EZ Electric Power Steering in Spain. We are very impressed with their workshop and commercial activities; Auto Storica is also the Spanish agent for Borrani wire wheels and Anglo Parts. Our team is proud that this company has chosen EZ Electric Power Steering as their new partner for quality classic car products. Auto-Storica displayed a truly perfectly restored Lamborghini Miura and Aston Martin DB5 (with power steering of course!). We had a Jaguar XK 140 and XK 150 and an MG A to demonstrate our electric power steering. An interesting exhibition which shows that Spain has an ever growing number of classic car enthusiasts!
